The Knott County Lady Patriots and The Leslie County Lady Eagles met on the hardwood for the second time this season on Tuesday Night. The Lady Patriots had convincingly claimed the first victory in the All A Region tournament 70-39 on January 9th, leaving the Lady Eagles looking to avenge the early season loss. The Lady Eagles offense fired on all cylinders late and pulled away in the second half for a 15 point win, with the final score of 76-61.
1st QUARTER Sophomore guard Presley Fletcher and senior guard Keara Mullins powered the Lady Patriots offense combining to score 14 points. Sophomore center Emma Napier scored six points and kept the Lady Eagles close. At the end of the quarter, Knott led 19-11.
2nd QUARTER The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Patriots 24-12. Lady Eagles’ sophomore guard Courtney Hoskins and sophomore forward Baylee Davidson each heated up and combined to score 18 points, igniting the offense. At the half the Lady Eagles led 35-31.
3rd QUARTER The Lady Eagle offenses provided balanced scoring. Courtney Hoskins scored six, sophomore guard Iris Napier tossed in five, and Baylee Davidson contributed three. Kylie Gayheart scored five and Abby Maggard tallied four for the Lady Patriots. Leslie County out scored Knott County 16-13 and extended the lead to 51-44.
4th QUARTER The Lady Eagles pulled away after senior forward Emily Bowling scored nine points, all from behind the 3 point arc. Iris Napier contributed eight points, and Leslie our scored Knott 25-17. When the final horn sounded Leslie County claimed the victory by a final score of 76-61.
