Owls Fall To Leslie Eagles 71-58

Booneville, Ky – February 5, 2024 – Deron Mays

Leslie County was able to avenge a loss to Owsley County in the All A at Wolfe County in January with a 71-58 victory in Booneville Monday. Leslie had their 3 point shooting hot throughout the game, making a total of eleven.


The game was close through the first two quarters with Leslie holding a 14-12 first quarter lead and a 30-26 lead at the half. It was the third quarter that propelled them to a bigger lead as they won that period by a score of 22-12. The teams swapped basket for basket in the last quarter and the Eagles held on for the win.


Jake McCoy led Owsley with 23 points and Dylan Gay added 17. Wes Cope scored 11 points, Chase Pryse 5 and Mason Smith had 2.


Owsley’s record is now 8-18.
Leslie’s sophomore guard Jesse Hoskins was high scorer for the Eagles with 24 points, which included five 3’s. Isiah Vanscoy scored 14, Jayden Hacker 13, Xavier Roark 8, Tye Meyers 6, Dillion Smith 3 and Gage Witt had 3 points.
Leslie County’s record improved to 12-10.


Owsley’s next game is Wednesday at home vs Jackson City. Leslie will next play at Dayton High in Northern Kentucky Friday.
