The CATS Roll Past Eastern Michigan 48-23

UK scored at least 10 points in each quarter against Eastern Michigan.

On Saturday, the UK football team hosted Eastern Michigan in the Cats’ first night game of the 2025 season. The Cats got out to a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter en route to the 48-23 win.

On the game’s opening play, UK defensive back Terhyon Nichols deflected a pass that would be intercepted by inside linebacker Daveren Rayner. Kentucky’s offense took over at the EMU 10-yard line.

It took just two plays for UK to score off a four-yard touchdown run by running back Seth McGowan, who would finish the game with 18 carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

Kentucky’s defense forced a turnover on downs in the following possession. UK’s offense responded by putting together an 11-play, 79-yard scoring drive. The possession was capped off by a 12-yard TD run by McGowan.

Kentucky led 28-6 in the first half before Eastern Michigan scored 10 unanswered points to end the second quarter. UK led 28-13 at the half, and went on to roll to a 48-23 victory.

UK quarterback Cutter Boley went 12-for-21 through the air for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Tight end Josh Kattus registered three receptions and 61 receiving yards. Kattus led the team in each statistic. Kattus and fellow tight end Willie Rodriguez each registered a receiving touchdown in the matchup.

Defensively, UK’s Jordan Lovett led all players in total tackles with eight. Defensive lineman Mi’Quise Humphrey-Grace tallied one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss, which led each team in both categories.

The Cats are now 2-1 this season, while Eastern Michigan is 0-3. Up next for Kentucky is the Cats’ first road game of the season. UK will play at No. 11 South Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 27.
