UK Football – Voting This Week for Season-Opening UK Football Concert

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After more than 60 nominations were submitted, the list of bands contending to play the first in the 2017 Kentucky Football Pregame Concert series has been whittled down to eight. Over the course of three days of voting this week on Twitter, fans will be choosing a winner from the following bands:

Jordan English Band – Fronted by Jordan English, they have developed a following in his hometown of Lexington. He and his band play a combination of acoustic, funk and soul music.

Magnolia Vale – Sisters Katelyn and Samantha Daugherty form this country duo from Lebanon, Kentucky.

Walker Montgomery – Walker Montgomery is an eighteen-year-old aspiring singer, as well as a UK student, from Nicholasville, Kentucky. He is the son of country music star, John Michael Montgomery, and nephew of Eddie Montgomery, of Montgomery Gentry.

The Throwbacks – From Lexington, The Throwbacks are a band that plays all things 1990s, spanning multiple genres.

County Wide – Founded in Southeastern Kentucky, County Wide plays a wide variety of music, including old/new Country, Southern/classic rock, blues and alternative.

Frontier – Frontier is a band from London, Kentucky. Their music has a unique sound that is filled with harmony and a classic style.

Paul Childers and the Black Tie Affair – Paul Childers is the lead singer and guitarist for this Kentucky-based band blending pop, R&B and soul.

Raleigh Keegan – Raleigh Keegan is a Kentucky native and a Nashville country recording artist.

These eight musical acts will compete in a three-round tournament with the winner decided by fan voting on @UKAthletics on Twitter. The four quarterfinal matchups will be on Tuesday, with the semifinals and finals following during the remainder of the week. The eight finalists were selected from an impressive group of nominated performers based on performances submitted and social-media following with the family-friendly atmosphere of the Kentucky Football Pregame Concert Series in mind.

Concerts will once again be held on the plaza outside Gate 12 of Kroger Field. A schedule for this year’s concerts will be released at a later date.
