Wolfe Defeats Powell in Rivalry Game

Robinson and Oliver propel Wolves to Win

CAMPTON – December 22, 2023 – Brendon D. Miller

Wolfe and Powell renewed their long-standing rivalry on Friday Night in Campton. The two were border District rivals when Wolfe as a member of the 56th before moving to the 55th. Always a hotly contested matchup, Friday night did not disappoint ad the Wolfes and Pirates staged a good one to send each team to the Christmas break.

Wolfe received huge contributions from Brady Robinson in the paint with 20 and Camden Oliver, in a great all-around game, with 18, in addition to 25 by Corey Flinchum. The Pirates placed four players in double figures with Bryson Edwards leading with 20, Jack Rose with 17, Cameron DelRosario with 13, and Brayden Brandenburg scored 11.

1st Quarter
Both teams hit three three-pointers in the quarter with DelRosario opening the game with two and Brandenburg a three for Powell. Caleb Creech had a pair for Wolfe along with Flinchum hitting his first on the night for the Wolves. Edwards has three field goals for six. End of the 1st, Powell led 17-15.

2nd Quarter
Edwards had three more field goals for six while DelRosario had this third three and totaled five. Rose had his first three of the game and Aiden Larrison and Tucker Ramsey each their only scores of the game with a three each. Robinson took over the paint with five scores for ten and Frinchum had a three and two buckets for seven. At the half, Powell was still up a point, 37-36.

3rd Quarter
Flinchum and Oliver each hit two threes in the quarter to lead the Wolves. Flinchum had 10 with Oliver six and Robinson had two scores for four. Jack Rose knocked down three threes for nine and Brandenburg had two scores. Headed to the 4th, Wolfe had taken the lead 58-54.

4th Quarter
Robinson had two field goals and was two of two at the line for six to finish with 20. Oliver had a bucket and was three of four at the line to total his 18. Flinchum hit his fifth three-pointer to set his game-high 25. Wolfe was 10 of 12 in the quarter to secur the win. Edwards scored three more times for six and his team-high 20 while rose had five to finish with 17.
