Brad Keselowski edges Jimmie Johnson in overtime to win the rain delayed Coca-Cola 600.

CONCORD, N.C. – May 25, 2020 – ANTHONY HOLBROOK

The 6th NASCAR Cup Series (rescheduled) Race located to Concord, North Carolina, on Sunday May 25th for the Coca-Cola 600  hosted by the Charlotte Motor Speedway.   Drivers competed a total of 607 miles on the 1.54 mile Quad Oval Asphalt intermediate track.  Continuing cooperation with CVC, no spectators will be allowed until restriction lifted.

Team Penske Driver, Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 Ford, wins his first Coca-Cola 600 early Monday morning.  An overtime race which showcased No, 88 Alex Bowman dominating wins in Stage 1 & 2. Bowman the Showman would fade in closing Stages interrupting any chance to bring the Coca-Cola 600 trophy home to the Hendrick Stables.

Keselowski finished three-tenths of a second ahead of former NASCAR Cup Champion No. 48 Jimmie Johnson, who came in second place until failing his post-race inspection.  Penalty of inspection disqualified Jimmie Johnson’s stellar 2nd place performance. 102 race drought for the 7 time Cup Champion.

The Coca-Cola 600 final recap:

No. 6 –  Chase Elliott advances to the front of the pack,  passing Brad Keselowski with 38 circuits remaining.   A final caution brought out by a No. 24 – William Byron tire issue.   Multiple teams opted for pit service including Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr.  Elliott would restart 11th while Brad Keselowski recirculated to the front and Jimmie Johnson will lineup in 2nd position for a final over time finish shootout.

Clean Air assisted Brad’s Ford Mustang to stay out front, setting up a battle to the end.  Brad would prevail and collect his 1st win of the 2020 season while Chase Elliott suffers another disappointing finish

Keselowski finished three-tenths of a second ahead of Jimmie Johnson, who came in second place until failing his post-race inspection.

The Coca-Cola 600 top-20 finishers will be inverted to determine the starting lineup for Wednesday’s Cup race at Charlotte, William Byron will start at the front and Alex Bowman will start second.
