Future Stars Coaches and Dignitaries - Brendon D. Miller/BSN
LOUISVILLE – July 13, 2020
One of the most prestrigious fraternities in the Commonwealth brought together for some of their alumni for a showcase on Sunday, July 12th. The Kentucky Future Stars organization held their first alumni combine with several college coaches and special guests on hand.
The Kentucky Future Stars program promotes the young 6th, 7th and 8th graders footballers of Kentucky that take on Tennessee each summer. This year the games were cancelled due to COVID-19, but organizer Ricco Hughes was able to still hold the combine for the program’s alumni!! All CDC guidelines were observed.
Before the combine got under way, the alumni got a special word from current Chicago Bears Linebacker, and Western Kentucky and South Warren alum, Joel Iyiegbuniwe on what it takes to be successful and reach the next level.
Many notables, in addition to those who coach the Future Stars each year, came to work with the alumni. Iyiegbuniwe – Worked with the linebackers; TERRY SAMUELS – former UK Wildcat, Male alum and NFL draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals; DEVIN GENTRY – former Future Star, Male and Georgia State Alum, who worked with the RB’s and WR’s; HUNTER CANTWELL – former UofL Cardinal, Paducah Tilghman alum, and NFL Quarterback with the Panthers and Ravens worked with the QB’s; DEREK DORSEY – Current UofL Coardinal, Manual alum, and former Kentucky Future Start worked with the Defensive Linemen; ISAAC SOWELLS – Former IU Hoosier, Doss Alum, and NFL 4th Round pics of the Browns, and played with Bengals, who worked with the Offensive Linemen; KEITH TOWBRIDGE – Former UofL Cardinal and NFL Tight End who worked with Tight Ends; JUSTIN GREEN – Former University of Illinois and Super Bowl XLIX Champion with the New England Patriots, whow worked with Defensive Backs.
Great event and great for all these young men to be part of the #BROTHERHOOD!!
