Alex Martens Named Preseason All-SEC by League Coaches

Wildcats slated fourth in early-season projections

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky second baseman Alex Martens was named to the 13th-annual Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Team, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office.

Martens is coming off a season in which she set the UK single-season record with 66 runs batted in. The McHenry, Illinois native hit .310 with 13 home runs in 187 at bats on the year. She was named NFCA All-Region after the season and was a part of her third-straight NCAA Super Regional in her junior year.

The Integrated Strategic Communications major racked up 58 hits on the season, while slugging .588 and getting on base .373 percent of the time. Martens started and played in all 60 games for the Wildcats in 2019 and clubbed nine doubles with a pair of triples.

The 2020 season for Kentucky kicks off at the NFCA Lead-Off Classic in Clearwater, Florida on Feb. 7 at Noon ET.
