Detmers Named Collegiate Baseball All-American

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – May 27, 2020

University of Louisville junior left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers was named to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-American team.

Detmers, who also earned All-America honors in 2019, is the 11th two-time All-American in program history.

Despite only making four starts in the shortened 2020 season, Detmers was dominant leading the Cardinals’ rotation. The southpaw was 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA, striking out 48 with just six walks in 22 innings on the mound.

The Chatham, Ill., native was second nationally in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings (19.64).

Detmers struck out at least nine batters in all four starts in 2020, including 14 in six shutout innings against Valparaiso and 15 over six scoreless frames in his final start at Wake Forest.

Detmers closed out the season with 284 career strikeouts, ranking fourth all-time at Louisville. He is also tied for ninth all-time with 20 career victories.

Louisville was 13-4 through 17 games during the shortened season and ranked as high as No. 2 when the season came to a close.
