Lexington Legends – Sensley’s two homers power Charleston to 7-3 win over Legends

Steven Sensley hit two home runs and drove in four runs as the Charleston RiverDogs took a 7-3 win over the Lexington Legends in front of 6,257 fans Friday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Khalil Lee tripled and scored on a ground out by Emmanuel Rivera.

Sensley tied the game with a leadoff homer in the top of the second, and the RiverDogs took charge with five runs in the third.  Pablo Olivares led off with a home run.  With one out, Diego Castillo singled and moved to third on a double by Dalton Blaser.  Isiah Gilliam’s single scored Castillo and sent Blaser to third.  Gilliam continued to second on an error by second baseman Gabriel Cancel, and Sensley followed with a three-run homer to right field, giving Charleston a 6-1 lead.

After the RiverDogs added a run in the top of the sixth, Lee hit his team-leading 14th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth, leaving the score at 7-2.

The Legends scored a final run in the bottom of the seventh when Vance Vizcaino doubled, moved to third after a fly ball by Manny Olloque, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick Hutchins.

Hobie Harris (1-0) got the win in relief.   He replaced starter Alexander Vargas in the second inning after Vargas was hit in the leg by a line drive.  Harris pitched two scoreless innings.  Braden Bristo pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth to earn his first save.

Legends starter Anthony Bender (4-5) took the loss.
