Tyler Reddick holds off Hendrick’s Teammate Chase Elliot to win his first NASCAR Cup race Sunday at Road America.
ELKHART LAKE, WISCONSIN – July 3, 2022 – ANTHONY HOLBROOK
The Nascar Cup Series traveled to Road America for the second running
of the Kwik Trip 250 presented by Jockey Made in America. Defending race winner Chase Elliott anticipated to guard off any approaching cooperators. This embarks the third road-course race for the Cup Series this season, and the first two races produced first-time winners. (Ross Chastain / Circuit of the Americas) (Daniel Suarez/Sonoma Raceway)
Chase Elliott dominated 36 laps during Sunday’s race, and it looked like the Road Course King
would repeat the checker flag ceremony. However, Reddick remained in firing distance
throughout the race and strategy passed Chase Elliott on Turn 5 what pronounced to be the
race-winning move with just 17 laps remaining.
Tyler Reddick potential was evident, putting together a complete race etched his name in
NASCAR’s history books.
It marked the Richard Childress Racing driver’s first win in the NASCAR Cup Series driving the
famed number 8 Hot Rod. Tyler Reddick becomes the fifth first-time winner this season, joining
Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric, Chase Briscoe and Daniel Suarez.
Chase Briscoe captured Stage 1 while Ryan Blaney wins Stage 2 after Chase Elliott opts for pits
service in both Stages, respectfully.
