Wildcat Quartet Earns GCAA All-America Scholar Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – August 9, 2023

Four Kentucky men’s golf student-athletes have been named Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholars, the organization announced Wednesday. Graduate Garrett Wood earned his third award, senior Alex Goff and junior Campbell Kremer each picked up their second and graduate Dhaivat Pandya was named for the first time.

To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in at least half of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and be of high more character and in good standing at their collegiate or university.

Goff, a Second-Team All-SEC selection and PING All-Southeast Region pick this past season, started all 10 team events while leading the Wildcats with a 70.73 scoring average with a team-high five top-10 finishes and nine in the top 20. Goff’s 70.73 scoring average marked the best for the Wildcats wince at least the 1993-94 season, topping J.B. Holmes’ 71.29 average in his 2003-04 All-America campaign. Pursuing his master’s in business administration, he paced UK with 24 round of par-or-better, including a team-high 20-under-par, while having 28.3 of 30 rounds count toward the team tally. Goff also achieved the GCAA All-America Scholar laurel as a junior in 2022.

Kremer, who also competed in all 10 team events, ranked third on the team with a 73.67 scoring average in his junior campaign. The management and finance major also sat third on the team with eight par-or-better rounds and 24.3 team-counted rounds. Kremer also was named an All-America Scholar as a sophomore a season ago.

Pandya, who joined the Cats as a graduate student pursuing his master’s in finance, competed in 10 events, including one as an individual. He ranked fourth on the team with a 74.10 scoring average, carded eight rounds of par-or-better and posted 17.5 team-counted rounds.

Wood, who also earned All-America Scholar honors in 2020 and 2022, ranked second on the team with a 72.17 scoring average while teeing it up in all 10 events. Pursuing his master’s in business administration, Wood also finished second on the team with three top-10 finishes and five in the top 20. He carded 15 par-or-better rounds and had 28 count toward the team tally.

The 2023-24 Wildcats get their season started Sept. 4 at the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan.
