Wolfe County Pressures Way to 55th District Final

Hailey Smith with 30 to lead Lady Wolves to 68-36 win over Riverside Christian.

The ladies took center stage tonight in the 55th as the Top seeded Wolfe County Lady Wolves open defense of their 55th District Title. Wolfe came in at 21-9 and the winner of 16 straight against 55th District teams.

Wolfe Junior star guard Hailey Smith began the game on fire with 27 of her game-high 30 points in the 1st half. Riverside Senior leader Haylee Badarak had 11 of her team-high 19 in the half to pace the Lady Rams.

The Lady Wolves maintained their defensive intensity to close out the game in the second half and advance to the District Final.

Wolfe County: Team – 1st Quarter 25; 2nd Quarter 14; 3rd Quarter 20; 4th Quarter 4; Total 63. Individual: Hailey Smith 30; Allison Stamper 9; Cala Gross 5; Brianna Colwell 5; Maggie Creech 4; and Madison Neely 4.

Riverside: Team – 1st Quarter 8; 2nd Quarter 5; 3rd Quarter 11; 4th Quarter 14; Total 38. Individual: Haylee Badarak 19, Julie Ann Neace 12; Jordan Neace 5; and Malin Voth 2.

Wolfe will take on the winner of Wednesday Night’s Breathitt – Jackson City match up Friday Night in Campton. Tip is set for 7:00 PM.
