MOREHEAD, Ky.The 2016-17 edition of the Morehead State women’s basketball schedule is complete. Though game times have yet to be finalized, each of the Eagles’ 30 regular season opponents have been slated on the calendar. Morehead State will warm up with an exhibition contest with Transylvania (Ky.) on Nov. 3, but officially tip off the season with the Donna Murphy Classic, beginning Friday, Nov. 11 at Johnson Arena.
“We know it’s going to be a very challenging schedule, a very challenging season,” said head coach Greg Todd. “We look forward to the challenges.”

After back-to-back home bouts with Alice Lloyd (Nov. 15) and Miami (Ohio) (Nov. 19), the Eagles will travel to Lexington to face in-state foe Kentucky (Nov. 23). Two home games and one week later, Morehead State will travel to Morgantown, W. Va. for a matchup with the Mountaineers of West Virginia (Nov. 30).

“The two toughest (games) we’ll play will be at Kentucky and at West Virginia,” Todd said. “Those games will be extremely difficult with the caliber of players both of those programs have. We’ll be able to tell a lot about our team.”

When December rolls around, Morehead State will spend a week on the road with contests at Florida A&M (Dec. 11), North Florida (Dec. 13), Alabama A&M (Dec. 15), and Kennesaw State (Dec. 17). Less than two weeks later, Ohio Valley Conference play begins. At the end of last season, the OVC was ranked 24th in national RPI.

On Dec. 31, the Eagles will travel to Martin, Tenn. to face last season’s regular season OVC champion, UT Martin, before Eastern Illinois comes to town for Morehead State’s home opener on Jan. 5.

The following week, a three-game Eagles homestand will be highlighted by a matchup with 2016 OVC Tournament champion Belmont (Jan. 14) and Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 21). Five of MSU’s final eight matchups will be on the road, as the regular season schedule wraps up with Jacksonville State on Senior Day (Feb. 25).
