The Bobcats headed to Central Kentucky on Friday Night to take on Bethlehem. Coach John Noble, called the win “ugly” as the talented Bobcats had difficulty putting the ball in the basket at times. Breathitt rode the hot hands of Austin Sperry and Luke Bellamy in the third quarter to erase a five point half time deficit. Sperry led the way down the stretch in the fourth for the win.
1st QUARTER Breathitt put up 15 in the quarter with Tyler Christy tallying 5, and Jaylen Turner and Sperry with four each. Zack Wickliffe had five for Bethlehem. At the buzzer, Breathitt had a two point lead 15-13.
2nd QUARTER Breathitt could not put the ball in the basket in the 2nd only scoring six points with Andrew Combs and Caden Turner contibuting their only points of the night. Hayden Osborne hit three 3-pointers for Bethlehem and the Bobcats were down by five, 26-21 at the half.
3rd QUARTER Sperry and Luke Bellamy scored all 17 of the Bobcats points in the quarter as Bellamy knocked down three treys and Sperry had eight of his game-high 21 on four baskets. The Bobcat defense held Bethlehem to only seven in the quarter to take a lead into the fourth at 38-33.
4th QUARTER Sperry led the Bobcats to the win with seven down the stretch, with Christy adding four. Bethlehem won the quarter 14-11, but Breathitt held on for the two point win.
